In response to the attack, Washington said on Thursday that it was imposing numerous new penalties on Iranian businesses.
Sanctions will target Iranian enterprises that develop drones, as well as suppliers and clients of one of the country's biggest steel producers and automakers affiliated with the defense ministry and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

President Joe Biden announced in a statement regarding the sanctions that the United States and its allies were working together "collectively to increase economic pressure on Iran" and that further penalties from the Group of Seven countries were on the way. In the future, Biden added, the United States would aim to "further degrade Iran’s military industries" through sanctions.

Sanctions were also placed by the UK on Iran's ballistic missile and drone sectors.
Iran's bombing was described as a "reckless act and a dangerous escalation" of the regional war by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
"These sanctions – announced with the U.S. – show we unequivocally condemn these behaviors, and they will further limit Iran’s ability to destabilize the region," Sunak stated.
The harsh regulations were unveiled during the G7 foreign ministers' summit in Italy, which included US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
